Winter Sun: Top 6 new resorts in Cyprus

As Jet2 increases its winter schedule to Cyprus, Isobel Turner picks some of the island’s best new resorts

Picturesque villages, cerulean waters and fascinating ancient ruins come together in Cyprus – and from Limassol’s chic marina to the palm-studded sands of Larnaca, the country enjoys about 340 days of sunshine every year.

That makes it more than just a summer getaway hotspot; it’s also one of the most popular European destinations for a dose of winter sun. Jet2 is gearing up for its busiest-ever winter schedule to date – the airline has added more than 10,500 seats to Paphos for the 2023-24 season.

To help inspire you and your customers, we’ve picked out some of the best new properties in Cyprus, from family-friendly beachfront resorts to romantic, adult-only retreats.

1. City of Dreams Mediterranean

This modern five-star resort, which opened in July on the outskirts of Limassol, rises above the pool like a pyramid, with more than 500 rooms and suites spread across 14 storeys.

The stylish Premier Rooms and Grand Rooms offer plenty of space and idyllic views of the countryside, while guests who opt for a Presidential or Penthouse Suite have their own private infinity pool set against the stunning backdrop of the Mediterranean.

Children will love the Aqua World water park, where they can race down slides and splash around in water fountains, while adults can enjoy the on-site casino, spa and parade of luxury boutiques.

Five restaurants will tantalise taste buds with Asian and French dishes alongside international favourites, and two bars and a cafe serve up local tipples.

Book it: EasyJet holidays offers seven nights’ bed and breakfast from £756, including flights on January 21, 2024.

2. Tui Blue Atlantica Sungarden Park

A stone’s throw from the centre of lively Ayia Napa, this sleek resort, which opened earlier this year, offers incredible views of the glistening Mediterranean and towering palms. A secluded cove a few minutes’ walk away caters for guests seeking a little peace and quiet, while the famous Nissi Beach can be reached in 25 minutes.

The hotel’s outdoor pool is the prime spot for soaking up the sun, and there’s an allocated section just for children, as well as an indoor pool at the spa. Accommodation spans 191 rooms, including spacious Family Rooms that sleep up to four, and luxury Swim-Up options with direct pool access.

Book it: Seven nights’ all-inclusive starts at £800, including transfers and flights, on May 2, 2024.

3. Amanti, Madefortwo Hotels

For couples wanting their own slice of paradise, recommend this romantic, adult-only boutique hotel in Ayia Napa. The outdoor infinity pool is lined with lush green foliage and sunloungers – and with an allocation system on hand to assign them, there’s no need to get up early to reserve one.

Guests can indulge in lavish treatments for two at the spa or unwind with a meditation class, before enjoying a five-star dining experience at one of the hotel’s four eateries, including all-day dining spot Ezaria and fusion cuisine at rooftop restaurant Immenso.

Culinary creations by Michelin-starred head chef Theodor Falser feature on the menus, with Cypriot, Mediterranean and Asian dishes on offer.

Book it: Olympic Holidays offers a week’s bed and breakfast from £1,278, including flights on October 7.

4. Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca

This five-star resort, which opened late last year in Larnaca Bay, is perfect for a peaceful retreat. The nearby beaches of Oroklini and Alaminos provide tranquil relaxation spots, as well as being ideal starting points for walking routes that wind along the seafront.

After a day of exploring, guests can relax at the resort’s outdoor pool or explore one of its four drinking and dining venues, including the oceanfront Waves Beach Bar Restaurant.

Book it: Mercury Holidays offers 14 nights’ full-board from £849, including flights on November 24.

5. Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort

Tucked away in the hills overlooking Coral Bay on Cyprus’s west coast, this plush retreat offers vistas of lush greenery in one direction and the sparkling Mediterranean in the other.

There are three outdoor freshwater pools, plus a fourth with a heated whirlpool at the spa. Eight bars and restaurants include Cypriot cuisine with a creative twist at Mesoyios and fine dining at the seventh-floor Sky7 restaurant.

Book it: Jet2holidays offers a week’s B&B from £1,239, including transfers and flights on November 12.

6. Four Seasons Hotel Limassol

Having recently reopened following a series of renovations, the independently owned Four Seasons Hotel offers 283 rooms and suites, including options with private whirlpools.

Five eateries serve everything from Asian fusion dishes to Mediterranean classics. Families and couples alike will find plenty to entertain, with a private beach, adult-only infinity pool and a lagoon with a waterslide among the facilities. Tennis courts are on hand for those who fancy a game.

Book it: Audley Travel offers a seven-night trip including five nights at the Four Seasons Hotel Limassol and two nights in the Troodos Mountains from £3,500 in October, on a bed-and-breakfast basis, including excursions, transfers and flights.
