Travel Counsellors enjoys most successful sales month since start of Covid

Travel Counsellors’ UK leisure bookings are now 50% up on the same time in 2019 while average spend is up by 20% on three years ago.

The homeworking firm said March had become the most successful sales month since the start of Covid, with Dubai, Tenerife, New York and France the most popular destinations for last minute Easter departures.

As well as leisure, corporate sales have also risen and are up by 20% on the same time in 2019.

The company reported that UK holidaymakers were now spending more on upgrading their trips and planning slightly further ahead, with bookings coming in for around 100 days ahead of departure.

For 2023, Travel Counsellors has already generated sales worth nearly £60 million, an increase of 63% on sales generated for 2020 at the same time in 2019.

In terms of departures for May, Rome and Barcelona are proving popular while for the summer holidays Greece, Italy and the Algarve are the top-sellers.

For long-haul this summer, the US, the Maldives and Mexico are the most booked destinations.

Travel Counsellors has also reported high demand for Christmas, with 15% of current bookings for winter 2022-2023. Popular destinations for the festive season include Dubai, New York, Barbados, Nevada and Iceland.

Chief executive Steve Byrne said he expected sales to continue increasing as customers sought to make up for lost travel time during the pandemic.

He added: “It is great to see such high demand and desire for travel again, with seasonal trips now returning to the forefront of peoples’ minds.”
