“We are delighted to launch Shannon Airport’s first-ever scheduled Ryanair service to Malta and know this will be an exciting new destination for holidaymakers from the west of the country,” said Mary Considine, CEO Shannon Group. “With its warm climate, breath-taking landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage sites, Malta will undoubtedly be a very popular destination this summer for sun seekers and those who want to experience its culture.”
Jason McGuinness, Director of Commercial, Ryanair, commented: “We are delighted to launch the inaugural route from Shannon to Malta today, which will operate twice-weekly as part of our Summer ’22 schedule. Our Irish customers can look forward to relaxing under the summer sun by the crystal blue Mediterranean Sea and enjoy outstanding cuisine from local producers.”
United Airlines resumes daily Shannon – New York/Newark service
Meanwhile, United Airlines has resumed its daily nonstop seasonal service between Shannon and New York/Newark. The service makes its return after an absence of almost two and a half years following the US travel ban during the height of the pandemic. It is set to operate until 29 October 2022.
“United Airlines is a very valued airline partner of Shannon, and we are delighted to welcome them back to our airport as they restore this vital transatlantic service,” said Considine. “With its hub status and onward connections, the Newark service is extremely important for our business passengers and is a key component of our transatlantic connectivity for our region and the broader west of Ireland.”
Martina Coogan, United’s Sales Manager Ireland, added: “We are delighted to return to Shannon Airport in 2022 and resume nonstop services to the United States.
