Rainbow Tours resumes holidays in Madagascar

Africa and Latin America specialist Rainbow Tours has resumed tours to Madagascar after a hiatus of more than two years because of the pandemic.

The holidays have started again this month as international carriers have resumed flights, although domestic services have not yet reached pre-pandemic frequencies.

To solve this issue, Rainbow Tours has added new tours, with alternative travel options.

The 18-day Western Madagascar Explorer includes only one domestic flight, with most travel being overland.

The escorted tour costs from £5,435, based on two sharing mainly on half-board basis, including international flights, one domestic flight, private transfers in 4WD vehicles, excursions, activities, permits and park fees.

The 16-day Madagascar Contrasts in Style features luxury lodges in remote locations accessible only by light aircraft transfers.

This escorted tour costs from £13,520, based on two sharing, including 15 nights’ accommodation, international flights, light aircraft transfers between lodges, private transfers in 4WD vehicles, park permits, guide fees, excursions and activities.

Commenting on the resumption of tours, Rainbow’s programme manager, Derek Schuurman, said: “This is a big moment for us; it’s been a very challenging time for our colleagues in Madagascar.

“We couldn’t be more delighted to be able to send visitors back to the island – and the people – we have such a connection with.”
