Homeworking franchise firm Not Just Travel said its cruise sale revenues surged by 64% year on year in January, while the number of cruise bookings rose 25%.
Paul Harrison, co-founder, paid tribute to agents’ “exceptional passion for cruise” and investment in the company’s cruise division.
He highlighted the help offered to agents from the division’s experienced experts; dedicated training and marketing support; and the commitment of cruise partners.
“The overall impact is that we’ve made it easier for our travel consultants to focus on and make lucrative cruise bookings,” he said.
“With total all-holiday sales revenue and bookings this month up over 41% and 32%, our recent surge in cruise sales isn’t diminishing our performance in the land-based market, which is also experiencing soaring success.
“Instead, the strategic initiatives and investments we’ve implemented to attract a new wave of cruise enthusiasts are yielding lucrative returns.”
He said about 400 NJT agents have been on cruise ships over the past 18 months to learn about the products, adding: “We don’t know any other travel company who has made such a big commitment – and who is getting such big returns as a result.”
Consultant Lynette Anderson – part of the Cruise Mastery Programme – said a third of her bookings in January had been for cruises.
One agent booked a cruise worth more than £83,000, while another consultant earned more than £15,000 of commission from one cruise sale.
Harrison added: “This year, to help them further, we have several company cruises planned with our key trade partners on Princess Cruises and Virgin Voyages.
“Franchisees will be able to experience a cruise and learn how to sell it at the same time as our cruise gurus will be onboard giving them training and advice. It’s a priceless opportunity for everyone.”
