Jet2 issues winter weather alert

Severe winter weather warnings for the remainder of the week may affect some of Jet2’s UK operations, according to a company alert.

The airline and tour operation issued weather disruption guidance on its website at 10pm on Tuesday.

Yellow warnings for ice and snow are in force across the UK as temperatures reportedly fell to -13C overnight, making it the coldest night of the winter.

Jet2 said: “Our operations team are continually working with the Met Office to ensure we have the latest and up to date information so we can react quickly should there be any disruption.

“If you are due to fly on a flight during this period, please allow extra time to get to the airport and carry any essentials in your hand luggage (with liquid restrictions in mind).

“At present, all our flights are scheduled to depart on time and our check-in desks will continue to close 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight.”

The company added: “We will always, where required, board our flights for an on-time departure, meaning, we can depart as soon as we have clearance.

“During events of bad weather this could cause a longer than usual wait onboard the aircraft, we apologise in advance if this is the case.

“Our friendly Red Team at our UK bases and crew onboard will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.”

Jet2 pledged to contact passengers via SMS and email should flights be disrupted and continue to update its website.
