Hotel rep company founder retires after more than 40 years in industry

Hotel representation company founder Lynn Girling is to retire after working in the Caribbean tourism sector for more than 40 years.

The founder of Lynn Girling Hotel Marketing, who set up the company 25 years ago, represented a number of hotels in the Caribbean including Spice Island Beach Resort, Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Mango Bay and Windjammer Landing.

Prior to setting up her own company she worked for Caribbean Airways and Cunard Caribbean Hotels.

Industry colleagues said a fond farewell to Girling at trade networking event Unite Caribbean. Debbie Flannagan, owner of Unite Marketing & Promotions, which runs the event, presented Girling with a bouquet of flowers.

Flannagan said Girling had attended every Unite Caribbean event as an exhibitor since it started 21 years ago.

She said: “Lynn is very well known and respected in the Caribbean sector and will be hugely missed.“

Girling said it felt like the natural time to step down and close the business and time for young, fresh talent to take over marketing the hotels.

She said: “For most of us, the pandemic has really shone a light on the things that we value most.  For me, it is family, friends and travelling and I know that I want to focus as much time as I can on all three!

“So, as we emerge from the last challenging couple of years, now seems the natural time to finally stand down from my hotel representation and hand over the reins.”
