Colin Currie to take new retail role with dnata accommodation brand Yalago

Dnata Travel Group head of trade partnerships Colin Currie is to take on a newly created role with the company’s wholesale accommodation provider Yalago.

Currie will become the brand’s head of retail for the UK and Scandinavia on March 1, following 14 years working within B2B brands including Gold Medal and Travel 2.

He will continue to be based in Glasgow and will report to Yalago general manager Astrid Kastberg, with a remit to establish the brand’s Retail Connect offering as “the accommodation feed of choice within the UK trade”.

He will also be tasked with expanding the brand in the Scandinavian market and developing its sales team.

Yalago was launched in 2017, with Yalago Retail Connect unveiled in 2020. The company said it was now looking at worldwide expansion with a focus on retail, initially in the UK.

Kastberg said: “We’re excited to be bringing someone with Colin’s knowledge and expertise in to the Yalago team as we accelerate our growth journey.

“He’s highly respected across the UK travel industry and I’m really looking forward to seeing him apply the energy that’s driven such a successful career with dnata Travel Group’s B2B brands in the UK to Yalago, as we bring more and more clients on to the platform and expand globally.”

She added: “This new role and challenge for him is another great example of the opportunities for progression and career advancement that are available when you work in an organisation like dnata.”

Karen Fletcher, dnata Travel Group B2B trade partnerships director, said: “This is a great opportunity for Colin and we all wish him lots of success. Over the 14 years he’s been with us, his professionalism and enthusiasm have been critical in helping us to build and maintain excellent relationships with our agent partners across the UK, and I know he’ll be missed by everyone here.

“Our trade partnership team is rightly regarded as one of the best in the industry by the people who matter most to us – travel agents – and we look forward to deepening our valued relationships with them as travel continues its return.”
